Cypress Semiconductor declared that Acer will use its proprietary TrueTouch touchscreen solution for the Acer Liquid MT smartphone. Acer’s ICONIA tablet that was launched recently also uses TrueTouch controllers.
The TrueTouch solution, which uses the PSoC programmable system-on-chip design, provides precise, flexible and highly receptive touchscreen solution.
Customers can choose LCDs and touch sensors made of glass or film to create novel designs ranging from curved to flat surfaces of different thickness. With the flexible TrueTouch solution, there is no need for customers to invest in turnkey modules to develop innovative touchscreen solution.
Acer has selected the TrueTouch solution for its high noise resistance. The device combines the concept of capacitive sensing technology with noise immunity to provide faultless function in LCD and RF environments. It provides a high signal-to-noise ratio and optimum scan times for multifinger touchscreen applications.
The Director of Product Management, Smart Handheld BU, Acer, Hawk Wu stated that the Cypress TrueTouch solution delivers high touch sensing speed and precision for users.
