Firefly LED Lighting Secures $3 Million for Product Commercialization

Firefly LED Lighting, an Austin Technology Incubator member, received a $3million award from the State of Texas Emerging Technology Fund for product commercialization.

In an effort to save energy costs and reduce environmental impact, Firefly designs products offering greater efficiency, longer durability and lower maintenance cost by 96% and energy by more than 80% as compared to conventional incandescent or fluorescent lighting.

Lighting solutions from Firefly reduce temperature by 32%, increase thermal conductivity by 48%, increase surface area by 223%, provide up to 40,000 h of light and feature additional controls and sensors.

The CEO of Firefly, Steve Barcik expressed excitement and stated that the company can now look forward to commercializing its products with the grant received and looks forward to strengthening the local economy with the jobs that will be created in the process.

Firefly has also launched a range of flood and spot lamps for both outdoor and indoor use. A driver technology and modular heat sink design ensure that the products will not only be long-lasting but will also save thousands of dollars in operational costs.
