Provider of optical subsystems and modules, Proximion Fiber Systems declared that it has opened a new manufacturing plant in Kista, Sweden to produce dispersion compensation modules (DCMs) to meet the growing demand. The DCMs will be produced using fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) technology.
Proximion’s DCM products are available in the market since 2003. By using FBG technology, the DCMs provide no-nonlinear impacts, decreased latency and low loss. The company’s continuous-band equipment based on FBG technology offers complete, uninterrupted compensation across the C-band, offering modulation format independence and total channel plan.
According to Proximion, the new facility will enable it to use its employees effectively and decrease the production expenditures. The facility will also enable the company to schedule the delivery period precisely and in turn save about 75% in lead times. The firm intends to operate its machines at 80% capacity by the Q2 of 2011 in order to eliminate overtaxing of the machines. Proximion has attained 50% capacity improvement in the Q4 of 2010 and anticipates further capacity increase during the H1 of 2011.
