Producer of flexible thin film solar modules and cells, SoloPower has secured a conditional commitment loan guarantee worth $197 million from the US Department of Energy Loan Programs Office to construct a photovoltaic module production plant in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Once completed, the facility is anticipated to manufacture thin film photovoltaic modules with a total capacity of nearly 400 MW every year.
During the start of 2011, SoloPower has declared the plans to build its first huge-scale mass production facility in Wilsonville. Retrofit of the current facility is slated to commence in Q2 of 2011.
The project will create nearly 270 construction related jobs and about 500 direct jobs, once the facility is operating at its full capacity. The company’s portfolio of flexible photovoltaic modules comply with both IEC and UL standards with up to 260 Wp/panel. The company is marketing its solar modules in small volumes to prominent clients in five countries.
