East Midlands Police Force Uses Systems Interface’s Solar LED Helipad Lighting System

Systems Interface has delivered a new sustainable power and lighting system to the East Midlands Police Force Air Support Unit. The East Midlands Police Force necessitated a system to offer enhanced control and lighting functionalities for pilots during patrol, security and rescue operations.

The Avlite Systems AV425-RF solar LED helipad lighting solution will offer an illuminated helipad system for UK pilots. The radio-controlled lighting system will be useful for day and night operations in infrared and visible LED lighting intensities. By utilizing a 2.4GHz encrypted mesh network, the lighting system can be enabled from helipad’s cockpit, air traffic control tower, or ground with the Avlite handheld controller or through VHF radio signal.

Pilots can detect the helipad in low visibility weather or above during hovering or on approach, using a custom omni-directional polycarbonate lens for ICAO photometric needs. Furthermore, the AV MESH Network enables the lighting systems to communicate through a command and receive redundant network.
