Laser Components announced that it has rolled out a new range of single-photon-counting modules that are mechanically compatible with other photon-counting modules.
The COUNTblue units integrate the low count rates of the present modules with high detection efficacies at shorter wavelengths.
The COUNTblue single-photon-counting modules detect over 50% of incoming photons in the red and 65% of incoming photons in the green. The module’s short-wavelength performance makes it ideal for various applications in confocal and lidar microscopy, astronomy, particle sizing, time-resolved single-molecule detection, and for fluorescence spectroscopy and analysis. The modules’ semiconductor design assures zero bi-stability and stable count rates.
The COUNTblue modules combine Laser Components’ VLok silicon avalanche photodiode with PicoQuant’s signal-processing and quenching electronics. The spectral range of the devices varies from 350 nm to 1000 nm. The incoming photons produce electrical pulses, which can be read at the transistor-transistor logic output. The modules have an optional FC connector that connects them to the sample through a multimode optical fiber.
The modules have an operating temperature between 10 and 40 °C. They also feature a timing resolution of 800 ps, an active area diameter of 100 µm, and a single 12 VDC supply operation.
