Oclaro Launches 1470 nm Laser Diodes for Cosmetic Skin Treatment Market

Laser solutions and optical communications provider, Oclaro has declared that its 1470 nm laser diodes, proven products in the eye-safe laser applications for the medical, defense and materials processing industries, are now focusing on the skin treatment markets.

The 1470 nm single-emitter lasers provide the durability, power and constant performance required in the cosmetic skin treatment industry.

New applications such as wrinkle reduction are fueling the demand for economical laser diode solutions. The 1470 nm single laser diodes are based on Oclaro's Indium Phosphide technology.

The 1470 nm single laser diode produces an output power of 2 W at a wavelength of 1470 nm from a 90 μm stripe. It comes with a CMount, submount or a 105 μm fiber coupled set up. The laser diodes can last for over 5,000 h at 10.5A.

The fiber-coupled version of the 1470 nm single laser diode is based on the company¡¦s broadly utilized platform for single emitter fiber laser pump modules. Its set up has been customized with slow and quick axis lenses for beam capture, enabling it be used for mass customer applications.
