Laser Components Introduces High Quantum Efficiency Photon Counting Modules

Laser Components and PicoQuant have formed a strategic collaboration to design new ultra-quality COUNT photon counting modules that attained highest dark count rates and ultra quantum efficiency.

Laser Components' Ultra-Efficiency COUNT photon counting modules with world record dark count rates

The COUNT photon counting modules attained a higher quantum effectiveness of more than 70% in the red region. They also achieved ultra quantum effectiveness in the blue spectral region, providing an edge over other modules existing in the market. These features enable the modules to be used in the fluorescence and confocal microscopy applications.

The COUNT line of modules is using a silicon Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (APD) designed particularly for this range. It is one among the least noise APDs available in the market. The series’ electronics have been designed down to the smallest detail. The APD along with the electronics is the key component of the COUNT module.

The COUNT modules are available as free-beam modules or with a turnkey FC connection for optical fibers with a core diameter of 105 µm. The module has a small package and plug and play compatibility with photon counters that exist in the market.
