Gooch and Housego (G&H), provider of fiber-optic solutions, have added a new product to its existing acousto-optic modulator product series.

The company has developed a non-hermetic model of the acousto-optic modulator after the successful launch of a fully hermetic Fibre-Q product in 2009. The fully hermetic Fibre-Q unit delivers enhanced performance in adverse environmental conditions.

The non-hermetic Fibre-Q product uses the dependable core build process of the fully hermetic Fibre-Q with reduced cost, weight, and size. The unit is ideal for OEM industrial applications where environmental conditions are more or less controlled.

According to G&H, which has been providing numerous Q-switches to the laser market for many years, the product could prove ideal for the industrial pulsed fiber laser market. The growing demand for fiber laser sources has increased the demand for acousto-optic modulators.
