Yenista Optics, developer of fiber optic test devices, has released a new manually tunable optical filter that features modifiable bandwidth down to 6.25 GHz.
The XTM-50 optical filter has a bandwidth modifying range between 50 and 800 pm and a wavelength tuning range between 1450 and 1650 nm.
The optical filter enables engineers to extract channels with no signal distortion and low insertion loss because of the 550 dB/nm steep edges and 0.2 dB flatness.
The Sales and Marketing Manager of Yenista, Nicephore Nicolas stated that new transmission technologies such as OFDM are emerging quickly in laboratories and generate the need for new analysis devices. Nicolas added that the new manually tunable optical filter offers a novel solution for studying cascaded ROADMs and new modulation formats.
Yenista also plans to roll out a comprehensive series of tunable filters such as WSM-160m WSA-160 and Xtract. These products, displayed at the ECOC 2010 Expo, cover the spectral selection needs in optical fiber systems.
