Jersey Telecom Launches High-Speed Fiber-Optic Broadband Service in Jersey

Jersey Telecom has rolled out a new Gigabit fiber-optic broadband service in Jersey. The Castle Quay development of St Helier will be the first region in the island to get broadband services at download speeds of up to 1Gbps.

The new broadband service is considered 20 × faster than the 20Mbps package offered by the Internet service provider (ISP). Over 25% of households in Jersey will get access to the 20 Mbps package by the end of this year.

Jersey Telecom’s Chief Executive Officer, Graeme Millar stated that the homes in the Asia Pacific region have access to high broadband speeds, which is unavailable in other parts of the world. He added that to demonstrate the speed of the broadband service is the most challenging part of the high-speed broadband rollout.
