According to the report, the LED supply growth is exceeding the demand growth of LEDs to create high pricing pressure. The average number of edge-lit LEDs for each panel has decreased by about 30% in monitors and TVs from Q2 to Q3 of 2010. Backlight and panel suppliers maximized their respective designs to minimize costs, which resulted in the fall of the weighted average numbers. In addition, the optimization of optical films and the enhancements in LED and lightguide efficiencies resulted in the decrease.

The report covers the quarterly panel shipments of all panel suppliers, LED consumption at each refresh rate, resolution and size, number of LEDs of each panel, and LED panel shipments. Furthermore, the study analyzes the LED consumption based on panel suppliers in the TV, monitor, and notebook markets.
