Asian LED Manufacturer Selects Veeco's TurboDisk MOCVD System

One of the major LED producers in the Asian market has ordered Veeco Instruments' TurboDisc Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) System, K465i, for mass production of LEDs. It is the 200th K465i supplied by Veeco Instruments.

Veeco's K465i is assisting LED mass producers to achieve maximum capital efficiency, which denotes the number of high-quality wafers produced per day for every dollar.

The ease-of-tuning feature of the K465i allows LED manufacturers to optimize the production process of wafer with sizes up to 8". The system allows rapid tool recovery time post maintenance.

Bill Miller, EVP of Compound Semiconductor and Head of MOCVD Operations at Veeco, commented that the company's K465i MOCVD system has become the ultimate choice for LED mass producers since its launch in the market in January 2010. The company is increasing the production of the K465i system to meet the demands of customers in the LED industry as LED requirement for illumination and backlighting applications is gearing up, he added.
