Cree Announces Commercial Availability of XLamp XP-E High Efficiency White LEDs

LED lighting company, Cree has introduced new LEDs for diffuse lighting applications including LED downlights and replacement lamps. The XLamp XP-E High Efficiency White (HEW) LEDs enhance the efficiency and light output of the XLamp XP-E LED series, and minimizes cost.

The XP-E HEW White LEDs incorporate Cree’s Direct Attach LED technology that offers minimal thermal resistance and forward voltage, as well as increased flux. The LEDs offer up to 114 lm and 148 lm of warm white and cool white at color temperatures of 3000 K and 6500 K, respectively at an operating current of 350 mA.

The XLamp XP-E High Efficiency White LEDs have a minimal thermal resistance of 6 °C/W. In addition, the LEDs come in white variations of 80-CRI White, Outdoor White, and Standard White.

The Director of Marketing for LED components at Cree, Paul Thieken stated that cost remains one of the important obstacles to LED light design and utilization. He added that the company aids in reducing the LED fixture’s design cycle and costs by providing bright and efficient LEDs.
