Redfern Launches Laser Platforms for Fiber-Optic Monitoring Applications

Redfern Integrated Optics, manufacturer of optical subsystems, announced that the Orion and Planex laser unit platforms come with an enhanced minimum output power of 20 mW.

Orion Laser Platform

The laser platforms do not require an external optical amplifier. The enhanced output adds to the laser unit’s specifications in Telcordia reliability, relative intensity noise, phase noise and linewidth.

The Orion and Planex laser units are narrowly tunable and function in the C-band spectrum between 1530 nm to 1565 nm. The lasers feature a narrow linewidth of less than 3 kHz with low noise and high output power. They are ideal for numerous applications such as precision metrology, LIDAR, high-resolution spectroscopy, acoustic fiber-optic monitoring, strain, distributed temperature, and remote sensing where high resolution, reliability and precision are essential.
