TOPTICA Photonics has introduced a new multi laser engine for multi-color applications in the field of biophotonics. The iChrome MLE laser engine is suitable for various applications, including genome analyzers, high throughput screening, FRAP, TIRF, live-cell imaging, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.
TOPTICA will exhibit the laser engine at Photonics West 2011, which will be held in San Francisco. About four diverse lasers in the wavelength range of 405-660 nm can be chosen to meet the required application. The laser system is available in two versions, the iChrome MLE-L and the iChrome MLE-S.
The iChrome MLE-L comprises a single DPSS laser and up to three diode lasers in a single box, while the all-diode laser iChrome MLE-S includes a maximum of four diverse diode lasers. The separate lasers are integrated efficiently to produce high power levels.
The laser engines offer standard wavelength options of 640, 561, 532, 488, 445 and 405 at 50, 30, 30, 30, 25 and 50 mW of power, respectively. A digital modulation of 20 MHz and analogue of 1 MHz enables quick switching of laser intensities and wavelengths for less sample exposure, thereby minimizing bleaching and phototoxicity.
