CarbonVision and Pro-Lite have collaborated to introduce the advanced carbon optical breadboards to the market. Pro-Lite has introduced the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) technology to the photonics field with CarbonVision’s carbon fiber breadboards.
Optical Breadboard
Structures manufactured from CFRP are suitable for applications in space and aerospace sectors because of their low resonant frequencies, enhanced thermal stability, high strength, and low weight. Pro-Lite will provide standard breadboards from CarbonVision in the size ranging from 300 x 300 mm to 1200 x 2500 mm, and the custom sizes are developed on the basis of request.
The carbon fiber breadboards are available in four grades, from the SL-series to the EC-series and these breadboards offer better damping characteristics. The carbon fiber breadboards offer improved weight-to-stiffness ratio, thermal expansion of 10%, up to 60% higher damping coefficients, and weigh 75% lesser than typical steel breadboards.
