Vision Research, manufacturer of video multiplexers, has introduced a new high-speed digital camera that is suitable for research, scientific, range, and military applications. The Phantom v341 camera includes a 4 MP sensor and provides a throughput of nearly 3 gigapixel/s. It features a global electronic shutter that enables sharp, crisp and blur-free images.
The light sensitivity of the camera is rated at 4000 ISO, which results in improved performance in self-illuminating tests and in natural light. The light sensitivity also lowers the cost of purchasing extra lighting products.
The Phantom v341 camera’s CMOS sensor has a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels in monochrome or color. The aspect ratio enables users to keep the smoving targets in-frame for a longer time. The camera features dual power inputs to safeguard the data during power failure. Its additional features such as Canon EOS lens mount, remote current session references, and new reflective color allow full remote control.
Various features such as the CineMag interface, optional on-camera controls, image-based autotrigger, and an internal mechanical shutter make the Phantom v341 camera ideal for range applications. The camera’s 4-MP resolution offers reduced readout noise and 60% peak quantum efficiency. The camera is ideal for particle image velocimetry applications when it is combined with the 2.5-µs straddle time.
The Phantom v341 camera operates at full resolution from 10 to 800 fps with maximum memory segmentation of 63 segments. Its dynamic range function offers two different types of exposures in a single frame.
