Pepperl+Fuchs Launches LR400 Multi-Line Laser Light Sensor

Pepperl+Fuchs has launched the new LineRunner400 (LR400) multi-line laser light sensor that is suitable for various detection assignments in factory automation.

The LR400 allows objects to be measured three-dimensionally in motion and in standstill position. The LR400 is ideal for a number of applications such as volume measurement control, height control, position control, 3D shape measurement and presence checks.

The LR400 functions using the triangulation principle. It enables three-dimensional measurement of an object in movement and two-dimensional measurement in standstill and x and y directions. Normal laser light sensors cannot measure objects in a three-dimensional manner at standstill position. The LR400 laser light sensor utilizes numerous laser light lines to precisely measure an object without any movement.

The LR400 features comprehensive evaluation of measured data and can be utilized as a standalone sensor without the need for a computer. The laser light process ensures sturdy measurements, even with numerous background and object colors. The LR400 can activate the laser lines in any order. This allows the LR400 to execute adapted measuring strategies to optimize the speed and performance of the measurement. The unit’s laser protection class 1 saves the user from expensive and complex protective measures.
