Meller Optics, provider of high-quality optic products, has launched new spinel and sapphire optical domes that offer front surface protection to detectors and electronic sensors in industrial and aerospace settings.
The optical domes have a maximum of 160° included angles to expand the viewing angles of detectors, sensors and cameras. They offer high levels of physical protection in adverse environments and are resistant to chemicals, water, dirt and moving sand. The optical domes can be developed according to the needs of the customer with accurate profiles and edge steps for mounting purposes.
The domes offer a maximum of 99% transmission when an antireflection coating is coated on both the sides and offer 85% transmission when they are uncoated. The optical domes have Moh 9 hardness and are available with maximum outer diameter sizes of 101.6 mm. The domes can also be developed to have a maximum diameter size of 152.4 mm using spinel, which has Moh 8 hardness.
