The QuickSwitch 6270 uses multimode switches, which are based on Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS), and supports data rates in Gigabits.

The QuickSwitch 6270’s switch position can be controlled remotely by using the RS-232 serial port or manually through the front panel pushbutton. When the switch is linked to the remote port, the PC can utilize any kind of terminal emulation software to operate the controls and examine the position of the switch.
