Veeco announced that it will expand its presence in the Asian market to meet the increased growth and customer requirements of the LED sector. The company plans to start Shanghai Training Center (STC) for training and customer support in China and Taiwan Technology Center (TTC), which is an advanced applications center and demo lab.

Veeco will also open an engineering and process development center called Korea Development Center (KDC). KDC will comprise customer training and tool demos. The company plans to unveil an expanded manufacturing center and a supply chain hub in Singapore. In addition, Veeco will now offer direct sales and service for metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) in Japan.

Veeco Instruments’ CEO, John R. Peeler stated that the company has a great opportunity to reduce the price of LEDs. He added that Veeco plans to offer improved technology development on advanced MOCVD systems, high quality service and support as well as customer training. The company will also open a new site to provide support for its consumers in clean tech and solar markets, Peeler said.
