TRUMPF has launched the new 2in1 fiber technology for the TruLaser Cell 7040 laser system with a disk laser. The 2in1 fiber technology performs both welding and cutting functions.
The TruLaser Cell 7040 system has an outer fiber ring core diameter of 600 or 400 µm, and an inner ring diameter of 100 µm. The double cladding feature of the system offers the disk laser’s beam with suitable depth of field and optimum focus diameter, for every application. The company will display the new technology at the Euroblech trade event to be held in Germany in October.
The 2in1 fiber technology features two dissimilar, but concentric fiber diameters that are placed in a single laser light cable. The laser beam, while cutting, is connected to the inner fiber core. For welding functions, the beam is connected to the outer diameter. The 2in1 fiber makes sure the beam arrives at the workpiece at the right focus diameter and depth of field.
The system control unit present in the TruLaser Cell 7040 system detects as to whether the machine should cut or weld. The control unit automatically connects the laser beam to the outer diameter or the inner fiber core, by using a core-switch. The fiber technology offers users with a solid-state laser with the best processing results.
