Agilent Technologies, premier measurement company, has announced that its optical receiver stress test solution will be expanded for testing 850 nm multimode transceivers. The company demonstrated the latest optical stress test products at the ECOC 2010.
The Agilent N4917A optical stress test solution offers precise and repeatable conformance test results. Test and design engineers in the storage and communication industry can precisely characterize and validate the standard conformance of the transceiver modules and receive optical sub assemblies that function at a maximum of 14.2 Gb/s.
Optimization and restructuring of the optical transceivers, which are used in Fibre Channel networks, 100 G Ethernet, IEEE 8.03ba 40GbE and IEEE 802.3ae 10GbE, are continuously driven by optical component vendors. The increasing demand for short-reach connections further boosts the demand to test subcomponents and the 850 nm multimode transceivers.
Agilent provides a comprehensive optical receiver stress test solution for 10 G Fibre Channel and 10GbE-LR/-ER. The test solution is now expanded to resolve short-reach transceiver testing such as 100GBASE-SR10, 40GBASE-SR4 and 10GBASE-SR.
The optical receiver test solution incorporates a N4917A automation and calibration software, a stress conditioning unit, an 81490A transmitter for single mode and multimode fibers, a fiber-optic cable kit, a J-BERT N4903A/B serial BERT and an 86100C/D Infiniium DCA-J.
The expanded optical stress test solution offers a number of benefits such as reduced setup and programming time and precise test results. The test set also provides an option of two reference transmitters. In addition to the present transmitter that supports 1550 and 1310 nm single mode fibers, a new transmitter is used for the 850 nm multimode fibers.
