OFS Launches SlimBox Premises Optical Terminals for FTTH Applications

Developer of fiber-optic network products, OFS, has launched new SlimBox premises optical terminals that expand the company’s FOX Solution for home deployments. The SlimBox compact unit has the ability to speed up fiber installation and decrease labor and space cost.

The SlimBox is a compact unit and provides a streamlined and simplified inventory solution via same devices and deployment procedures for outdoor and indoor cabling boxes. The SlimBox also provides installers a splice-and-connect or a splice box option at every termination point. This option varies from the current options, which need different kinds of hardware for indoor and outdoor applications. The SlimBox products are less obtrusive when compared to other home box solutions.

Optical Connectivity Solutions’ General Manager, Linda Dembowski stated that the present multiple dwelling unit installations need a large hardware inventory that drives the material inventory. The Slimbox optical terminals could help customers to easily deploy the fiber to each unit and will enable faster service, Dembowski said.
