Meller Optics has announced the availability of its new spinel and sapphire optical domes. These optical domes offer front surface protection to various electronic detectors and sensors in harsh applications such as industrial and aerospace environments.
The sapphire optical domes have 160 degree maximum included angles for the expansion of the viewing angles of detectors, sensors, cameras, and other devices. The optical domes are resistant to chemicals, water, dirt, and moving sand. These optical devices can be customized for precise profiles and edge steps, for mounting applications.
Meller sapphire optical domes offer a maximum of 99% transmission, when A/R is coated on two sides of the dome, and a maximum of 85% transmission, when uncoated between the UV to IR. The optical domes show hardness of Moh 9, and they are available in the sizes of up to 4-inch O.D., featuring 20-10 scratch-dig surface finishes. These optical domes are also customizable in sizes up to 6-inch O.D. from spinel.
