Fiber optic network and copper switch manufacturer, Electro Standards Laboratories has announced the QuickSwitch 4198 8-Way Fiber Optic Switch Converter. The QuickSwitch 4198 can be controlled through remote, and it enables the user to access any one of the 1-8 fiber-optic network ports from a computer, which is linked to the 100 Base-TX common port.
The fiber-optic switch converter features an inbuilt twisted pair/fiber-optic media conversion. The eight ports of the switch are 100 Mbps, 1300nm, ST multimode fiber-optic ports. The fiber switch converter is available with customized configurations, and SC duplex mode.
The RS232 serial management port helps to remotely control the switch converter, while the switch can also be controlled with the help of front panel pushbuttons. The LED indicators of the switch indicate the status of the switch position, and the fiber optic link’s presence. The remote control feature allows a remote user to adjust the position of the switch, lockout operation of the front panel, and query the status of the switch position.
The QuickSwitch 4198 fiber-optic switch converter comprises an internal circuitry that assures the isolation between devices, or networks. The switch converter functions as a signal source, thereby preventing optical signal loss.
