Provider of energy-efficient lighting products, Acuity Brands, has announced that San Diego State University has selected the company to provide integrated lighting solution.
The project represents the first LED lighting project for the university, who aims to reduce lifecycle costs and energy consumption. Acuity has installed Lithonia Lighting’s RTLED luminaire in the new lecture hall, which can accommodate 215 people.
The RTLED luminaire provides uniform ambient white light all over the area and reduces both maintenance and energy expenditures. The luminaire also cuts down the environmental impact. It is powered by a LED light engine and delivers a lamp life of 50,000 h. The luminaire provides improved lighting environment such as full range dimming with direct current control of 0-10 V, 3500 K color temperature and high color rendering.
In addition to RTLED luminaries, the university has also installed the DoM recessed LED downlights for common ambient lighting applications and SensorSwitch’s nLight lighting control system to control the overall lighting system in the lecture hall.
According to Jeffrey Herr, Architect, he recommended Acuity’s LED lighting products for the university’s major lighting project. The LED-based lighting products meet the sustainability goals and are suitable for both general and ambient lighting applications, Herr said.
