Manufacturer of converters and power supplies, Martek Power has acquired the Pennsylvania-based Laser Drive. As a result of the acquisition, Laser Drive, which develops and manufactures power supplies for light and laser sources, is now known as Martek Power Laser Drive.
The laser products from Laser Drive include power supplies for diode, HeNe, and Argon lasers. The light solutions from the company include power supplies for flash lamp, tungsten lamp, CW arc lamp, and deuterium lamp, as well as capacitor-charged power supplies for excimer and dye lasers.
The R&D Director of Laser Drive, Phil Thackray stated that Martek Power will enable them to enter new segments in the market. The acquisition will allow Martek Power to gain a greater exposure to the growing market of lighting and laser power supplies, Thackray said.
Martek Power’s President, Mike A. Innab noted that the customers of both the companies will be benefited with the combination of the production expertise of Martek Power, and the technology of Laser Drive. According to Innab, the new business will expand the current product line of Martek Power.
