Veeco to Supply MOCVD Systems to Tsinghua’s LED Facility

Tsinghua Tongfang has selected Veeco Instruments, metrology and process equipment provider, to supply Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems for its new LED facility.

Tsinghua Tonfang’s VP, Wang Lianghai stated that the company reviewed a number of MOCVD systems at its Beijing research and development site and then decided to purchase Veeco’s MOCVD systems for the new production plant in NanTong. Lianghai informed that the TurboDisc K465i systems are cost-efficient and increase productivity, and the company ha planned to increase LED production to meet the demand for backlighting in televisions applications.

Veeco Instruments’ Executive VP, and General Manager of MOCVD Operations, Bill Miller commented that the company is delighted to support Tsinghua’s LED production ramp. Tsinghua has transformed from the lighting engineering business to LED manufacturing operation; the company has an experienced technology group and sound financial support, Miller said.
