DRS Technologies’ RSTA division has launched a new i2i-3 electro-optical infrared multisensor for maritime vessels, land vehicles, aircraft and unmanned vehicles.
The i2i-3 UAV payload packs feature a laser pointer, visible light camera and a long-wave infrared (LWIR) camera, all incorporated in a gyro-stabilized package. The package has 3.5” diameter and weighs less than 1.5 pounds.
The i2i-3 micro-gimbal system is specifically developed to survive water submersion and adverse shock loads during UAV crash landing situations. The i2i-3 is MIL-qualified for EMI/EMC, vibration, shock, acceleration, dust, sand, fog, wind, rain, humidity and immersion.
The LWIR camera provides stable images under low and high frequency pitch, platform roll and vibration. The 50 mW 850 nm laser pointer is useful for ground troop coordination and target identification. The device uses a VOx microbolometer technology that offers 320x240 pixel resolutions that can be upgraded to 640x480.
