GAO Fiber Optics Unveils New 1202 Fusion Splicer

Provider of fiber-optic measurement and test devices, GAO Fiber Optics, has introduced a new fiber optic fusion splicer for multi-mode and single-mode applications.

The 1202 splicer has five user-definable settings and five pre-set settings for both multi-mode and single-mode optical fibers. The device is ideal for erbium doped, non-zero dispersion shifted and splicing dispersion shifted fibers.

The fusion splicer is user-friendly and automatically adapts to the environmental conditions by utilizing built-in pressure, humidity and temperature sensors that offer feedback signals. The signals help in controlling the fusion arc temperature. The splicer can automatically select a fusion program as well as Y and X views. It can also calculate the splicing loss and automatically checks the fiber end-face.

The average splicing loss of the splicer is 0.02dB in a single mode optical fiber and 0.01dB in a multi-mode fiber. The heating time taken by the splicer is 60 sec, while the splicing time is 10 sec.
