Pangolin Unveils New LASORB ESD Absorbers for Laser Diodes

Pangolin Laser Systems has expanded its LASORB product portfolio with the addition of a new range of components that protect the laser diodes from both indirect and direct electrostatic discharge.

The LASORB, otherwise known as ESD absorber, is specifically developed to protect LEDs, photodiodes and laser diodes.

LASORB

ESD presents a significant problem for low-power and Blu-ray single-mode red laser diodes. ESD events can result in complete or partial diode failure. The LASORB prevents these damages and also protects the laser diodes from reverse bias conditions.

Pangolin manufactures two other LASORB series for 405 mm Blu-ray, infrared and red diodes. The LASORB is available in a compact package and mounts in a two-pin and through-hole configuration. The LASORB series is also available in customized packages. Pangolin also offers the LASORB ESD absorber in a surface-mount-technology.
