Cubic Demonstrates Maritime Training Device Featuring Laser Engagement System Technology

Cubic Defense Applications has demonstrated the Sea-PAN maritime training system three times to the federal law enforcement organizations. The new Sea-PAN is a laser-based system that uses the MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) technology of Cubic.

The latest Sea-PAN demonstration was held at the Maritime Simulation Conference in Georgia. The demonstration included two high-speed boats measuring 32 ft each. The first boat represented a hostile craft with explosives, whereas the other boat was a law enforcement boat that had orders to stop the first boat.

Nearly 20 law enforcement personnel in the second boat had a Glock pistol, a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun, and an M-4 rifle, all of which were fitted with laser transmitters. The hostile craft also had a Glock pistol and an M-4 rifle, both of them fitted with SAT units. Both the boats were maneuvering at high speed of up to 40 mph. The law enforcement boat used aggressive evasion and pursuit tactics to block the hostile boat.

Similar demonstrations were also conducted for the U.S. Coast Guard enforcement personnel in Northwest Florida and the FLETC in South Carolina.
