EMCORE has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with a China-based company, San'an Optoelectronics, to design, manufacture and distribute concentration photovoltaic (CPV) systems, receivers and modules for global solar power applications.
San'an and EMCORE will have 60% and 40% stake, respectively in the new JV company, Suncore Photovoltaics.
San'an Optoelectronics’ Chairman, Xiucheng Lin, will serve as Suncore’s Chairman and EMCORE’s Senior VP, Dr. Charlie Wang, will become Suncore’s General Manager.
Both the companies’ business and operational activities for CPV products will be shifted to Suncore, and its major production operations will be based in Wuhu city, China. Wuhu city’s economic development organization will offer economic incentives such as grants, land and other incentives to Suncore.
Suncore will produce 2 MW of CPV modules for EMCORE projects and 12 MW of CPV products for San'an’s customers. Both the companies are also involved in multiple CPV projects namely the 280 MW solar energy project in six western areas of China.
