New EVLD02-II Evaluation Board for IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC

IXYS Corporation’s Colorado division has released a new EVLD02-II evaluation board for evaluating IXYS’ IXLD02SI Laser Diode integrated circuit (IC). The EVLD02-II includes new enhanced features such as increased pulse performance, enhanced thermal performance and a new layout.

IXYS EVLD02-II evaluation board

The EVLD02-II has been completely redesigned to enable easy operation. A +5 V input power is supplied to the evaluation board through a connector that ensures faultless operation. All the components are laid on the top surface of the circuit board. These components are marked to indicate the diagram provided with individual unit. The circuit components are located far apart to enable the user to survey the circuit with the least risk of short-circuiting. Moreover, additional heat sinking is not necessary to operate the IXLD02SI IC when it is fixed on the evaluation board.

The enhanced thermal performance allows the board to function at a maximum of 17 MHz, using the IXLD02SI IC’s full frequency range. The XLD02SI features a minimal rise and fall time of 600pS and low pulse widths of 1.5nS.

The evaluation board can be used to show the value of the IXLD02SI IC in a number of  applications such as pulse generators, ultra-fast line drivers and laser diode drivers.
