ADTRAN announced that Covad has chosen its Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP), and NetVanta 800 Series network termination products for application in Carrier Ethernet services. The Total Access 5000 platform delivers a complete highly-scalable Ethernet solution when combined with the NetVanta 800 Series.
ADTRAN offers a fault-tolerant, cost-efficient Ethernet access as an alternative to the MLPPP technologies. The solution offers measurement and QoS (Quality of Service) capabilities to carriers to allow them to provide versatile SLA-based services to its end-users. The solution is MEF certified, and provides powerful traffic management capabilities to its customers. The Carrier Ethernet solution enables a simple deployment model for the service providers who seek to capture business Ethernet.
Covad’s Chief Technical Officer, Aamir Hussein, said that the Total Access 5000 Platform enables them to provide Ethernet services on a single platform with advanced technology, ensuring that they meet customers’ demand.
The VP of Sales at ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division, Steven Locke, stated that service providers such as Covad require an effective method to improve service offerings with installed infrastructure. He added that the Ethernet solution of ADTRAN overcomes limitations in distance, hence, enabling Covad to widen its service area.
