Research and Markets has included Rapra Technology’s new subscription called, Polymer Bulletin - Light Emitting Polymers, to its offering.
The polymer bulletin is offered by the Polymer Library as a current awareness service. Whenever the abstracts database is updated with new records, a bulletin will be sent to the subscribers to alert them about the addition of light emitting polymer-related items. An e-mail will also be sent once in two weeks to the subscribers.
Light emitting Polymers are plastic molecules that emit light when current is supplied to them. Some of the light emitting polymers are polypyridine, polyaniline, and polyphenylene vinylene. These polymers were discovered in a Cambridge University laboratory in the late 1980s. The light emitting plastic molecules are mainly used in Organic LED as the lumophor component.
Presently the Polymeric OLEDs lag behind the small molecule OLEDs with respect to development. However, there is considerable progress and more scope for development because of the lower operating energy and costs than other LEDs/OLEDs. Due to these reasons, these polymers are used in flat screen displays as a replacement for plasma/LCD, digital camera and mobile phone displays, and so on.
