Larson Electronics Unveils New Rolling Antenna Cart to Extend Cellular Coverage in Large Venues

Larson Electronics, a leading industrial lighting company, announced the addition of a new rolling antenna cart to its growing catalog of products and offerings. The antenna cart (WAL-M-SAWC) is designed to be a portable miniature cell on wheels to extend cellular coverage in large venues, such as stadiums, arenas and outdoor fields. The unit can be used to support concerts, conventions and sporting events, including the highly anticipated 50th anniversary of The Big Game in Santa Clara on February 7, 2016.

Germanium-based Photonic Chips Have Potential to Improve Bandwidth of Optical Fiber Communications

Mid-infrared light, which has a wavelength longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves, has many important applications in remote sensing and communication technologies. Researchers in Japan have demonstrated the successful operation of several new photonic components that can effectively guide the passage of mid-infrared light. The research may lead to a faster internet and sensitive detectors for important molecules like carbon dioxide. The team presents their results at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC), held March 20-24 in Anaheim, California, USA.

Credo Semiconductor, a global innovation leader in Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) technology, today announced it is entering the chip market with a sub 1 Watt multiplexer (MUX)/retimer device that leverages the company's unique SerDes architecture and low-cost analog technology to enable 100G optical modules with 50G per lambda throughput.
