Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, announced today the official launch of the RICOH® Pro C720/C720s, a production class multi-functional color system, the latest addition to Ricoh's Pro series of products, designed specifically for the production environment. This flexible system is targeted at corporate and commercial professional print environments with demanding application needs. The Pro C720/C720s has a robust duty cycle of 320,000 images per month, and runs at 72 pages-per-minute (PPM) regardless of paper weight.

Researchers Convert Normal Atoms into Rydberg Atoms Through Laser Excitation

Rydberg atoms are highly sensitive atoms, as one electron is only loosely bound. Compared to „normal“ atoms which are one tenth of a nanometer in size those giant atoms are ~100 nanometers large. Due to their sensitivity they are very useful for quantum logic operations. As they can feel each other over distances up to several micrometers they can be used as conditional switches for quantum states, for example to connect nodes of a quantum network.
