Pyramid Research Provides Report on Fiber Network Initiative for Wider Broadband Adoption

Pyramid Research has published a report Singapore: Fiber Initiative to Drive Higher Adoption of Broadband and Pay-TV that provides an accurate profile of Singapore’s media, telecommunications, and technology sectors.

The report contains data gathered by Pyramid Research as well as analysis of this data. The report studies both mobile and fixed line telephony sectors. The report also tracks the  technologies and services’ market shares and the development of fiber technologies and services.

Tae-Hyung Kim, Pyramid Research analyst, said that the revenues of data services account for 31% of Singapore’s entire service revenue. With the rise in demand for fixed and mobile data services, the revenue figure is expected to rise to 38% by 2014. Mobile data’s service revenue will rise at a CAGR of over 10% in the next five years. The mobile broadband consumer population of Singapore is expected to touch 40% in the next four years.

Kim also added that wider adoption of DSL, fiber, and cable modem would increase the revenue of fixed sector. The growth will be a consequence of the new national fiber network’s completion. The IPTV and VoIP subscriber population is expected to rise at a CAGR of nearly 41% and 20% respectively in the next five years.
