US Army Increases Funding for Applied Energetics’ Laser Technology

Applied Energetics has announced that it has received increased funding from the US Army, to the tune of $1.8 million, for its laser guided energy (LGE) technology.

The increased funding for the existing contract comes from the US Army’s Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) based in Picatinny, NJ. Applied Energetics Chief Operating Officer Joe Hayden has mentioned that development efforts are continuing to progress in the field of laser guided technology, and the company is pleased at having received the Army’s renewed support.

The total contract value, inclusive of the additional funding, stands at $4.9 million at present. This development effort is primarily aimed at supporting advancements in the components and systems of laser guided energy. It is also a significant step in meeting future requirements of the US Army.  

Applied Energetics has been developing the revolutionary LGE weapon technology for inducing a wide range of effects on various targets. This core proprietary technology and its applications have in excess of 30 patent filings, with nine applications having been awarded and another 29 in process.
