Ophir Optronics reported that it has won a $23 million worth contract from the vehicle safety equipment manufacturer Autoliv. The company has received the order to provide infrared optical components, which will be integrated into the advanced night vision equipment. Autoliv will offer these night vision equipment to Audi, Rolls Royce and BMW.
As per the framework agreement, the company will deliver the optical components through 2013. The new deal replaces the previous agreement between the companies that existed from November 2008. Under the preceding deal, Ophir Optronics had supplied Autoliv with $5.8 million of optical components.
The company added that the announced revenue guidance was based on the expected non-binding contracts under the framework deal with Autoliv. However, the actual sales could differ from the guidance depending on the negotiation between carmakers and Autoliv and the car market developments.
