Acacia Research Unit Acquires Lighting Control Technology Patents

Acacia Research reported that one of its subsidiaries has purchased the patent rights on a lighting control technology. The patent rights are related to the control and energy efficiency features of lighting switches and circuits that are used in commercial and residential applications.

The company’s subsidiaries collaborate with patent owners and license those patents to corporate users. The revenue generated from patent licensing will be shared between the subsidiaries and the patent owners. Currently the company’s subsidiaries have more than 150 patent portfolios on various technologies.

The CEO and Chairman of Acacia Research Paul Ryan said that more technology companies are entering into partnership with them as their success in licensing is increasing. The company is quickly taking the leading position in technology licensing and continuously expanding the revenue base with new patent portfolios, he noted.
