Ophir Optronics has acquired the precision laser beam profiling equipment developer Photon, based in San Jose, CA. With this acquisition, the company has expanded the product portfolio of the Ophir-Spiricon group.
The acquisition helps the company to create a strong, largest, and diverse supplier of laser measurement devices for use in various sectors such as medical, scientific research, industrial and military.
Ophir-Spiricon, a division of the Laser Measurement Group of Ophir Optronics, offers an extensive range of beam profiling software and products. The broad experience of Photon in fiber and laser beam characterization offers measurement system designs that are semi-customized and helps to solve difficult optical problems.
Ophir-Spiricon acquired Photon with a special interest in the latter’s scanning-slit technology. The scanning-slit NanoScan Profilers of Photon deliver high precision and accuracy in measuring kHz as well as CW-based laser beams across different spectrum ranges between UV and far infrared. This scanning-slit technology enables very easy profiling, as it has the ability to measure beams with high power without any complex attenuations schemes.
The General Manager of the Ophir’s Laser Measurement Group, Moty Gelbman, expressed his pleasure in combining the two innovative firms together. The newly acquired company and its products complement their beam profiling business, while the scanning-slit technology offers easy usage with accuracy for real-time operations, he added.
