Gartner Recognizes Thin Film Solar Cell Manufacturer AQT

AQT, a leading developer of low-cost CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-diselenide) thin-film solar cells today announced that the company was named one of the five “Cool Vendors” selected for the April 2010 “Cool Vendors in Solar Energy, 2010” report by Gartner, Inc.

Gartner’s report highlights “noteworthy vendors in the photovoltaic (PV) solar energy industry that are developing technologies and innovations which are likely to have meaningful impact on the adoption of solar energy.” One of the key findings of the report is that startup companies in the PV industry are focused on reducing the cost of PV systems, as well as the capital requirements for manufacturing. According to the report, “these companies have developed business plans incorporating a new set of lower-cost targets in the wake of the collapse in average selling prices that occurred during 2009.”

“AQT is honored to have been selected as one of Gartner’s ‘Cool Vendors’,” said Michael Bartholomeusz, CEO of AQT. “We believe this is further confirmation that AQT’s innovative CIGS 2.0 approach is a step in the right direction for affordable solar.”
