Momentive Displays Silicone Solutions for Growing Solar Industry at SNEC 2010

Momentive Performance Materials featured a wide range of silicone solutions for the rapidly growing solar industry at SNEC 2010, which was held May 5th through 7th at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

Solutions on display included TSE3852 silicone adhesive, a one-component, alkoxy cure solution that is an excellent candidate to consider for the demanding reliability requirements of solar field applications. Building on Momentive’s 70-year history of innovation, this new material, produced at Momentive’s Nantong plant in China, can provide excellent adhesion to a wide range of photovoltaic substrates, including aluminum, plastics and glass, without the use of primers.

TSE3852 is the latest in Momentive’s growing family of high-performance products to be considered for solar applications, which includes frame sealing solutions, junction box and back sheet sealing materials, junction box potting, PV module encapsulants, and sealing materials for thin film technology, CPV technology and rail bonding.

“We expect to see rapid growth across the solar industry over the next several years, as the gap between the cost of energy from photovoltaic panels and the electricity grid narrows,” said Robert Benson – Global Marketing Manager, Eco-Energy, Momentive. “Asia Pacific and China, in particular, are well positioned to realize significant gains. Leveraging our Nantong plant, we will be able to provide our customers in this key market with a range of creative solutions that can help increase cell efficiency and extend the life of solar panels, while potentially lowering production costs and shortening lead times.”
