Chili's Restaurant Franchises Across Southeastern U.S. Standardize on U.are.U Fingerprint Readers by DigitalPersona
DigitalPersona, Inc., a leader in fingerprint identity and authentication solutions, today announced that Valenti Management, owner of Chili's franchise locations across the southeastern U.S., has standardized on U.are.U® Fingerprint Readers from DigitalPersona to protect against possible theft. Valenti Management, which employs approximately 1,000 people at its 17 Chili's restaurants, is using DigitalPersona fingerprint readers with Menusoft System's Digital Dining Point-of-Sale (POS) software on their POS terminals. Valenti Management was looking for an affordable security solution to proactively safeguard manager overrides, verify transactions and prevent fraudulent time entry.
"For a device that provides such a high level of security, the U.are.U Fingerprint Readers from DigitalPersona took no time at all to deploy in our Chili's restaurants," said Pachy Torresola, director of information technology at Valenti Management. "In fact, we have been so impressed with the level of accuracy and certainty provided by the U.are.U fingerprint readers, as well as their affordability, that we have made the devices a corporate standard and requirement for all future POS terminals used in our restaurant franchises."
After reviewing various other leading security solutions, Valenti Management chose U.are.U from DigitalPersona because it not only provided fine-grained accountability for all POS transactions, but also helped to strengthen their compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) regulations. Because the fingerprint readers provided such a simplified and natural approach to authentication, employees were able to begin using the devices without training sessions. The efficiency and security of the DigitalPersona fingerprint authentication solutions allowed Valenti Management to remain confident in their employees' time-keeping and transactions without burdening the IT budget with expensive equipment or solutions that require heavy involvement from the IT department for password resets.
"In these tough economic times it's crucial for businesses like Valenti Management to save money where they can," said Jim Fulton, vice president of marketing at DigitalPersona. "DigitalPersona's fingerprint identity and authentication solutions help restaurant franchisees maximize accountability and security for POS transactions while minimizing the burden and budget impact on IT departments."
