Net Optics Launches Xstream Line of Products for High-Performance Networks

New Director™ Xstream and iLink Agg Xstream Enable IT Departments to Improve Network Quality of Service, Increase Operational Efficiency and Reduce Capex

Net Optics, Inc., the global leader in intelligent network monitoring access solutions, today announced the Net Optics Xstream line of products for high-performance telecom and data center networks. The new Net Optics Director™ Xstream and iLink Agg Xstream enable more cost-effective monitoring of the increasing volume of traffic on 10G network links. This enables customers to maintain the performance and security of applications and services while reducing Capex costs and improving operational efficiency. Net Optics will be demonstrating these new products and the company’s entire Monitoring Access Platform at SUPERCOMM 2009 in Chicago, Ill., from October 21-23, 2009 in booth #3411.

Today’s telecom and data center networks deliver more services and carry greater amounts of multi-protocol traffic, mixing voice, video and data simultaneously. To handle the skyrocketing traffic load, networks are rapidly being upgraded to high-speed 10G links. Increased security threats and tighter regulatory compliance requirements further complicate network operations. Maintaining network security and performance in this environment means monitoring more points in the network, for more detailed information, at 10G line speeds. As a result, monitoring tools are oversubscribed and multiple groups with various responsibilities compete for use of the tools and access points.

Director Xstream and iLink Agg Xstream enable the deployment of an intelligent, flexible and efficient monitoring access platform for 10G networks. Director Xstream and iLink Agg Xstream enable a pool of 10G and 1G tools to be deployed across a large number of 10G network links, with remote, centralized control of exactly which traffic streams are directed to each tool. The Net Optics Xstream products enable organizations to see more traffic with fewer monitoring tools, relieve oversubscribed 10G monitoring tools, share tools and data access among groups without contention and centralize data monitoring in the network operations center. Unique to Director Xstream is TapFlow™ filtering technology, which enables organizations to select traffic of interest for each tool based on protocols, IP addresses, ports, and VLANs.

“Monitoring access is no longer a luxury, but a network performance and security necessity that must be built in the basic network architecture as a monitoring platform and not a series of disparate point products,” said Dennis Carpio, Director of Product Innovation at Net Optics, Inc. “With our new Director and iLink Agg Xstream solutions, we’re providing a monitoring access bridge as our telecom and enterprise customers expand their 10G deployments. This will help them ensure the highest levels of performance for business-critical applications and services over their high-bandwidth networks while reducing Capex and Opex burdens from already taxed IT departments.”

Additional features include:

  • 24 x10 Gigabit ports with fully configurable port mapping

  • Aggregates 20 links to 4 tools (iLink Agg Xstream)
