Neil Main, Managing Director of Lincoln-based Micrometric, has received an award for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the industrial use of lasers.
Neil was honoured with the Fellowship Award at the AILU ILAS 2023 Symposium Dinner, an event which celebrated all things related to industrial lasers and featured a range of award categories.
The Fellowship Award recognises an individual AILU member who has made an outstanding lifetime contribution to the industrial use of lasers.
Neil said: “I have been involved with AILU since its inception, and it’s a great way of bringing all stages of laser processing together and building the knowledge around laser manufacturing.
“I am very pleased to accept this Fellowship Award, and I am honoured that my work and time as president are being recognised in this way.”
AILU Committee President Adam Clare said: “Neil Main has been actively working in the laser industry since 1982. He was instrumental in starting AILU and has been involved with the association since its inception. He was even voted President of AILU in 2013 for a two-year tenure.
“The encouragement, persistence and goodwill demonstrated by Neil has been invaluable to AILU over more than 25 years.”
The award was introduced in 2021 to replace the AILU Award. The recipient of the Fellowship Award receives AILU Life Membership. One new fellow is awarded at each Industrial Laser Applications Symposium (ILAS) which takes place every other year. Previous AILU Award winners automatically become AILU fellows.
At each ILAS event, AILU presents prestigious and highly valued awards to selected individuals who have gone through the nomination and selection procedure.
